From my collection of lost and broken treasures and my own hand made ceramic pottery beads, I have given new and forgotten objects meaning and purpose in the form of fashionably rustic bracelet with salvaged micro mosaic brooch, stones, beads and for the toggle a repurposed antique oil lamp wick raiser – embossed English Made – Duplex. This one is themed in aqua blues and neutral browns and beiges.
For the focal point of this bracelet I have taken a broken vintage micro-mosaic from Italy featuring a daisy on a teal background and re-soldered it with brass connectors that attached to the array of lost and found beads. From flea markets and broken jewellery, I have assembled carved mango wood beads, carved bone beads from a rosary, pearls and amazonite. Finally, I have matched these treasures with ceramic pottery beads that I have hand made myself and the bracelet closes with toggle created from a brass wick raiser I cut from a broken antique oil lamp made by Duplex.
All of the items are either hand made by me, upcycled or reimagined and it all sits together on strong tiger tail wire and the brown chord is faux leather. It measures approx. 21 cm (about 8 inches in length). It would suit a wrist about 8 – 9 inches below the wrist bone.
