Make a bold, earthy statement with this handcrafted rustic assemblage necklace, featuring unique ceramic beads in textured folds and vivid turquoise-aqua hues. Each ceramic bead is individually shaped and hand-fired using a method reminiscent of croissant-making—folded from clay flats into organic, sculptural forms measuring approximately 2.7 cm by 2.5 cm.
These striking ceramics are strung on a soft faux-leather cord, accented with vintage, recycled glass trade beads from Kroboland in Ghana, West Africa. Salvaged from a broken necklace, these ancient-style beads are rich in history—made by hand from crushed bottles and other discarded glass. The powdered glass is either poured into moulds or melted on sticks, and some beads are intricately hand-painted and re-fired to set their colours.

The chain portion is crafted from salvaged steel and silver-plated components, including Tibetan silver connectors. I’ve soldered on a custom shepherd’s hook clasp and added a decorative bead dangle for a touch of charm.
The necklace measures 19 inches in length and can be adjusted slightly shorter. Prefer a longer style? I can easily extend it with up to 9 inches of additional links upon request.
