The magic of found artefacts! A pastel yellow sea pottery piece from Cornwall is paired with chartreuse yellow sea glass teardrop from Seaham, England in a nod to the lure of the mermaid!
It is often thought that mermaid's would lure sailors to their death, although I like to think that they would rescue sailors instead and help divert ships from rocky shores. I've created this necklace inspired by shipwrecks and mermaids as the pieces each have spent time in water and have their own story to tell.
I particularly love simplicity of the pottery shard that is worn evenly in a triangular shape. It was found at Lusty Glaze beach (Cornish: Lostyn Glas), meaning "a place to view blue boats". The accompanying seaglass pieces (including the fabulous chartreuse yellow teardrop) were found in Seaham, in the North of England where Victorian and Edwardian glass factories once stood and where now you can find tiny ghosts of the past.
These treasures have been carefully brought together in a one of kind design and then drilled and wire-wrapped in sterling silver. The sea pottery is a nice weight and about 2.2 cm tall. It hangs on a fine chain in sterling silver and in your choice of length.
