Newly forged from the Imaginatarium, a found object artefact pendant featuring a repurposed spoon and iridescent glass scarab beetle button that I have recreated into an ancient Egyptian themed assemblage.
According to the Egyptian mythology, god Thoth was the real inventor of the ancient Egyptian music and the god Osiris used it in the underworld. The spoon may be been created to commemorate Thebes - Chapel of the Nobel Musicians which features a harpist. Full bands of musicians and dancers were composed in ancient Egypt to play in the feasts and religious ceremonies and can be scene depicted in the tombs of Pharaohs. The scarab was also a symbol of immortality, resurrection, transformation and protection much used in funerary art.
I found this bronze and turquoise stone spoon at a flea market in England and immediately knew it would pair well with a glass scarab beetle button I found at a local antiques shop. The spoon featured a nicely depicted harpist on the handle and the bowl section featured hieroglyphics. Separating the two carefully, I have been able to put them together as part of a trio of charms and decorated the harp player with iridescent pearls. This iridescence is carried forward with the glass scarab beetle button which has wonderful reflective qualities. They hang on a twisted jump ring and remind me of visits to museums as a child, wondering in awe at the stories of ancient Egypt and the Pharaohs, wishing I could be an archaeologist.
This one of a kind found object pendant is about 7 cm tall and the spoon bowl is 2.4 cm wide. It sits on an antique bronze chain in a length to suit you.
