A rare thing indeed, sea pottery and sea glass in similar hues cascade together in this unique one of a kind beachcomber's necklace.
The magic of found artefacts! Green and white sea pottery from the Jurassic Coast, England is paired with Seaham seaglass in a nod to the lure of the mermaid!
It is often thought that mermaid's would lure sailors to their death, although I like to think that they would rescue sailors instead and help divert ships from rocky shores. I've created this necklace inspired by shipwrecks and mermaids as the pieces each have spent time in water and have their own story to tell.
I particularly love the design on the pottery shard which has a fabulous green and white decoration that remind me of waves on the ocean. It was found on the Jurassic Coast, Southern England where a Victorian landfill fell from cliffs into the ocean leaving lots of historical artifacts to find washed up on the beach. The accompanying seaglass and light green mermaid's tear were found in Seaham, in the North of England where Victorian and Edwardian glass factories once stood and where now you can find tiny ghosts of the past.
These treasures have been carefully brought together in a one of kind design and then drilled and wire-wrapped in sterling silver. The sea pottery is a nice weight and about 2.2 cm tall. The sterling silver chain is available in your choice of length. Please check out my useful guide to necklace lengths to help choose the right necklace length for you.
