This Seaham seaglass piece gifted to me by the ocean and I've turned it into a beautiful beachcomber's necklace.
I love to assemble artifacts that have been gifted to me by the ocean. There is something magical in finding treasures from the sea and altering them to create a desirable object with a new purpose. It was a joy to find this perfectly tumbled torpedo shaped seaglass piece at Seaham in the North of England, where Victorian and Edwardian glass factories once stood and where now you can find tiny ghosts of the past. Sea glass shapes like this are occasionally found on the Durham Heritage Coast, as they are the ends of glass rods that were cut off from a production piece during its molten state and then discarded in the ocean.
I have carefully drilled this turquoise torpedo shaped sea glass piece under water and created a stirrup style connector with scroll sides for an unique found object necklace.
It is suspended on a hammered ring and measures 3.5 cm from the top of the stirrup to the base of the piece. The sea glass is 2.5 cm tall. The sterling silver chain is available in your choice of length. Please check out my useful guide to necklace lengths to help choose the right necklace length for you.
