A gift from the ocean - an unusual sea glass necklace featuring a two bold pieces of seaglass that are remnants of the Victorian and Edwardian glass making industry.
Spain and England is famous for its glass factories, some of which used to stand on the coast and where now you can sometimes find ghosts of the past washed up on the seashore.
This necklace features two pieces of seaglass that are the by-products of the glass making industry - the white piece from Spain being that of a glass rod and the teal marble like piece from Seaham being what is termed a "bubble" with a flat back, also from the end of a rod. In the olden days, it was customary to discard such production waste from the glass making industry into the sea where they are tumbled by the tides and then gifted back onto the shore with a beautiful frosted appearance.
I've created a triangle drop design with these two pieces in a nautical theme and brought together with sterling silver chain and sterling silver twisted ring.
The white sea glass is approx. 4.5 cm wide and the teal bubble is 1.5 cm wide. Overall the piece has a nice weight to it and would be best suited to a long pendant chain. For a handy guide to choosing the right necklace length for you, please visit:
