Upcycled vintage tin pendant cut by hand to reveal a cheery yellow flower, green leaves and row of peachy tulips.
From my collection of vintage tins, picked up from flea markets, vintage shops and car boot sales, I've selected a rather battered Huntley & Palmers biscuit tin in order to repurpose the beautiful illustrations into a whimsical pendant. The design on this tin, from the British makers of biscuits since 1822, was a beautiful Chinese inspired painting featuring blue birds, dragons and pretty trees and flowers.
For this necklace, I have used the cheerful yellow flower and tulips motif cut by hand into an oval shape and finished it with green and yellow bell flower glass bead with crystal anther dangling elegantly from the base. It is further decorated with golden crystal glass beads on sterling silver wires at the top. An enchanting gift for anyone who may be celebrating their 10th Wedding anniversary.
As you can imagine, this tin is many years old and each panel has been cleaned carefully and sanded to remove sharp edges. The reverse of the assemblage necklace is rustic as in keeping with the age of the artifact used. It measures 7 cm tall overall, with the oval 3 cm tall and 2 cm wide and sits on a sterling silver chain.
