I've upcycled a vintage Pewter spoon depicting a Viking scene into a rustic talisman with Roman glass and labradorite beads.
The spoon (rescued from the bottom of a dusty box at an antique fair) was originally made in Norway in the 1970's and had seen better days. The pictogram featured on the flatware tells the story of Heilag Olav, who carved a dragon's head on his own long boat, gave his life in battle and whose legacy involves being the first to introduce Norway to Christianity. This particular talisman features the King's crown and shows Olav The Holy in battle with a bow and arrow.
Once the pendant piece had been cut, sanded and polished, two holes were drill into the top corners and attached on both sides to sterling silver wire featuring tiny Roman glass and labradorite beads which are stacked. The genuine roman glass beads are a delicate aqua blue and white and have been made from excess glass found at archaeological sites.
The talisman itself is 3.2 cm tall and 1.7 cm wide. The sterling silver chain is available in your choice of length. Please check out my useful guide to necklace lengths to help choose the right necklace length for you.
Delivered in a rustic hand-stamped recycled paper gift box wrapped and tied with twine, so you don't need to re-wrap your item if it is a present. I can also add a FREE hand-written gift card with your special message to the recipient. Please convo me or include your words of wisdom in the message section at checkout.
